چکیده

In this paper the problem of modelling partial mixing phenomena, mostly relevant in environmental and reactors modelling practice, is considered. The ultimate modelling goal is to find identifiable, finite-dimensional state-space models, which are physically interpretable, realisable and which describe partial mixing. Hence, realization theory will be linked to prior physical systems knowledge to answer the question which mixing models are good candidates in environmental/reactor systems modelling. The starting point is compartmental systems modelling with backflows. It appears however that only a limited set of low-dimensional structures is identifiable. From the real world example given in this paper it appears that an appropriate, physically interpretable and realisable model within this class of models cannot be easily found. Fluid Dynamics in a Copper Converter: an Investigation on Mixing Phenomena in an Experimental Model

In this study, the mixing phenomena and fluid dynamics in a copper converter have been experimentally investigated using a physical model. The physical model is a 1:5 horizontal tank made of Plexiglas. The mixing phenomena have been characterized by experimentally measuring the mixing time using a tracer dispersion technique. Moreover, the effects of the air flow rate and lance submergence on t...

Going Multi-viral: Synthedemic Modelling of Internet-based Spreading Phenomena

Epidemics of a biological and technological nature pervade modern life. For centuries, scientific research focused on biological epidemics, with simple compartmental epidemiological models emerging as the dominant explanatory paradigm. Yet there has been limited translation of this effort to explain internet-based spreading phenomena. Indeed, singleepidemic models are inadequate to explain the ...

Numerical Study on Low Reynolds Mixing ofT-Shaped Micro-Mixers with Obstacles

Micromixers are one of the most crucial components of Lab-On-a-Chip devices with the intention of mixing and dispersion of reagents like small molecules and particles. The challenge facing micromixers is typically insufficient mixing efficiency in basic designs, which results in longer microchannels. Therefore, it is desirable to increase mixing efficiency, in order to decrease mixing length, w...

A Model of Time-dependent Biodistribution of 153Sm-Maltolate Complex and Free 153Sm Cation Using Compartmental Analysis

Introduction Compartmental analysis allows the mathematical separation of tissues and organs to determine activity concentration in each point of interest. Biodistribution studies on humans are costly and complicated, whereas such assessments can be easily performed on rodents. In this study, we aimed to develop a pharmacokinetic model of 153Sm-maltolate complex as a novel therapeutic agent and...

The effect of flow parameters on mixing degree of a three dimensional rhombus micromixer with obstacles in the middle of the mixing channel using oscillatory inlet velocities

The previous studies of authors on passive micromixers indicated that the micromixers dividing the flow to several layers, such as rhombus micromixers and micromixers with obstacles in the middle of the mixing channel, have higher mixing degree than other types. Also, using of oscillatory inlet velocities is an active method to enhance the mixing efficiency of micromixers. Therefore, in this st...
